Biographical Information

Born in San Diego, California, but residing in the “Golden Triangle” from early childhood, Dr. Burns graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, then attended medical school at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

A year as an intern at The University of California at Davis in Sacramento was followed by two years in the United States Army.

After completing an Orthopaedic Surgery residency at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minesota, Dr. Burns practiced for five years in New Castle, Pennsylvania; then completed a Hand Surgery and Microsurgery Fellowship at The University of Louisville, Kentucky where he studied with Dr. Harold Kleinert.

In 1980, Dr. Burns and his family returned to Texas when he was appointed faculty director of the Orthopaedic Hand and Microsurgery Service of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical School. Since 1984, Dr. Burns has been in private practice in the Houston Metro and Clear Lake Areas. He and his wife now reside in League City, Texas, where they are often visited by their four children and four grandchildren!

If you are a Work Comp patient, please also print, fill out, and bring the "Work Comp" Forms in addition to the new patient forms. Make sure to bring these forms, your insurance card and any x-rays and/or scans with you to your appointment!
